"Everything we need to transform our communities already exists", says new book Beautiful Solutions: A Toolbox For Liberation

We’ve tracked the creative-activist website Beautiful Trouble for some years now, and it’s a delight to see this book forthcoming on OR Books, titled Beautiful Solutions: a Toolbox for Liberation. Here’s their blurb:

Our problems are global and interconnected, and our solutions must be too. With over seventy contributors, this toolbox spotlights the collective wisdom that reminds us that another world is not only possible, it’s already under construction. Everything we need to transform our communities already exists. From food sovereignty to debt abolition, from folk schools to energy democracy — and from Argentina to Zimbabwe. If you long for a more beautiful, more just, and more livable world — and want to know how to get there — this book is for you.

Digging into their crowdfunder of a few years ago gives a sense of what solutions are here:

CHITSVACHIRIMURUTSOKA COOPERATIVE: Twenty-two veterans of Zimbabwe’s war of liberation pooled their demobilization allowances to start this collective farm, whose name means “nothing ventured nothing gained"

GREENWAVE: A network of regenerative ocean farmers in the US that have been growing shellfish and seaweed for food, biofuel and fertilizer without use of freshwater or other inputs –creating good jobs and saving the planet.

SEIKATSU CLUB: A women’s milk-buying club that has grown into a massive political force for female empowerment, renewable energy, and food safety in Japan.
